Don’t let the technical name scare you! EMDR is a method designed to help you work through trauma whether undesired memories, stressful thoughts, or lingering feelings related to post-traumatic stress. At Jenn Van Zee Counseling, we believe that we are whole beings where our thoughts and feelings are deeply integrated with our physical selves. With this approach, we use specific eye movements to allow our bodies to guide our inner worlds back to health.

You don’t have to hold your pain alone. Our approach is to provide you with a safe environment to carefully explore your past, unpack your story of wounding, or re-examine those hurtful pain points. By revisiting these places of distress, our hope is that through informed and skillful counseling practices we can create an individualized plan of care best suited to your personal needs and growth opportunities.

Everybody needs someone who listens to them without judgment. Our world is starved of compassion in this fast-paced, overstimulated, digital era. When you step into our counseling space, our goal the moment you arrive is to be that safe place and listening ear. Counseling is hard personal work and it can be very vulnerable to unpack your story.
We want to honor your journey by providing a compassionate setting where your care is a priority and your story is treated with honor. We listen first and believe you are worthy of being listened to without prejudice or judgement.

This is a fancy way of saying that at Jenn Van Zee Counseling, we understand there is a connection between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Our hope is that when you enter into our counseling practice you can tackle problems that are currently troubling you and leave with “tools” that help you move forward toward growth.

Life is full of challenges. So much so, we can often find ourselves at our breaking point or on the brink of disaster. At Jenn Van Zee Counseling, we use Acceptance and Commitment therapy as one way to build up our coping tool belt as a way to better handle our struggles as we encounter them. We seek to develop flexibility as we process our emotions and work through worrisome thoughts.
